Lincoln Highway

The back of this 1941 postcard (distributed by Central City, Pennsylvania's Grand View Point Hotel) reads "Having a swell time."

A search for Modernaire Motel (though the one still in PA) brought me here, and glad to find you blogging Andrew. I haven't heard the last couple Tom Petty albums so that video and your commentary were great to see - not to mention the Lincoln Highway postcard! Sorry to say the "Seven Mile Stretch" includes Shanksville, scene of the Flight 93 crash.

Many thanks, Brian. I really appreciate your kind feedback.

By the way, readers, if you're interested in learning more about this American Main Street, I heartily recommend Brian's book, Greetings from the Lincoln Highway. You can purchase it from Amazon. You won't be disappointed.

Great book. We used it shortly after it came out to go through Iowa. Made the trip a lot more interesting.

Great postcard shot.

Get me out on the road.
