Beijing World Park (1 of 2)

Back in '04, Zhang Ke Jia directed a movie called Shijie ("The World"), a sort-of love story set in a decaying Beijing amusement park that features miniature monuments from around the globe. I found Zhang's film to be somber and thought-provoking, but mostly I was intrigued at the prospect of a park where you can tour Egyptian pyramids, photograph the Taj Mahal, and even drift by the Twin Towers on a boat. I was even more amazed to learn that this amusement park exists! Here are some pix from my summer visit. [And here's a link to that day's blog.]
